Introduction to Messaging and Queuing using

IBM Websphere MQ

WebSphere MQ, formerly known as MQSeries, is an IBM product that greatly simplifies distributed development. It can easily connect your application on iSeries with another application on the Web, the mainframe, UNIX, Windows and just about any platform you can think of.

We will cover the basic concepts of messaging as a development paradigm and the advantages of using a Message Oriented Middleware tool like Websphere MQ.

At the end of the presentation you will have a better understanding of what Websphere MQ is, and how to leverage it as part of your integrated solution.


Mr. David Siemek has over 25 years of experience in the IT industry, the last 7 using IBM’s Websphere MQ product, where he holds three certifications: IBM Certified Developer, IBM Certified Specialist and IBM Certified Solutions Expert. As a member of the Development Tools Team at the BNSF Railway, he is responsible for the selection, implementation and support of Enterprise Application Integration solutions. He has previous experience as an IMS Database Administrator, DB2 Database Administrator, CICS Cobol Developer. He has extensive experience in designing and developing middleware applications.
