Why SQL ?  Why Now ?

Presented by
Raymond Everhart

SQL has been available on the AS/400 and iSeries for years. When SQL was first introduced, it was not widely embraced because of limitations and performance concerns. IBM has improved SQL on the AS/400 and iSeries so dramatically that in some cases it outperforms "native" RPG and Cobol record level access. Come to this month’s Metro Midrange Users Group meeting to find out how you can begin to harness the power of SQL.

We will explore the following topics:

1)  Why SQL ?  Why Now ?

2)  How to get started using SQL

3)  How to add SQL statements to your programs

4)  How to improve SQL performance
